We won an Award and give too!

We here at the Meadow have been out of the award business for a while for life has been rough here for a while and Dad was retraining, looking for a new job and time was short.  But, the rebound is hopefully under way and we were pleased and surprised to get an award from one of our favorites…. the piggies at:

When wheeeee discovered this cute blog full of lil piggies and read about their life we knew we had to keep coming back.  Their pig-english is terrific and funny and they are all so cute.  We love seeing what happens each day and the love their family has for them is very obvious! We want to thank our friends for this award and cannot believe this is their first award for their blog deserves to have every award ever conceived.  We plan on changing this so keep reading. 🙂

Name Ten Things About Ourselves-

1. The Meadow is a animal sanctuary in that wild life seems to know it is welcome here by Mom and Dad and many come here to die spending their last days being taken care of by our family. We have nursed many wild animals as their final days come and the piggies will be pleased to learn that the most unusual was a woodchuck who came and which Dad held and nursed till it passed away.

2. The first dog to live at the Meadow was a part collie named Chessie.

3.  The first cat to live here was Cheyenne.

4. With the exception of MacKenzie, Niamh, Lad, Branwen and the pups born here all our other collies were rescues from a friend who helped place them with us as a kennel shut down.

5. Members of our collie bloodline from the core group who inspired this blog have littermates or descendents living from the East Coast to the West Coast and from just across the river from Canada to Florida.  It is amazing how far the family has spread in less than ten years…..

6. The collies love cats… except for Branwen who.. well.. doesn’t like anyone… hehehehe

7. Yes, Ginger truly wants to rule the world……

8. Yes, Ginger does really plot and scheme to get what she wants… it is amazing to watch….

9. Dad’s favorite Terhune book is Gray Dawn.

10. The collies really do cheer when Liverpool scores, but that is because dad is cheering….. although some of them do listen to the games and we believe it is the crowd noise that fascinates them.

Bone Tired and a Message from Ginger….

After working a full day, spending a hour and a half on the road I went in today and took a 3 hour test in my job retraining quest.  Actually it was three tests each a hour long.  I got the tops score possible in 2 of the three and the one test I didnt get the top score possible I came close!!!  Then a half hour back to home where needless to say I am tired…. bone tired…..

1. Name a stereotype about the country you come from?  Americans are rich?  Some are, but most are not……

2. How many languages do you speak? Only one, English.  I used to be able to read Hebrew and read the Old Testament in Hebrew….. very rusty at it now.  Know some German and all the bad words in Spainish… hehehehe.. I actually learned them while working with migrant workers in the farm fields.. 🙂

3. What is your funniest travel experience ever?  Getting lost in Wash. DC…….

4. Which food do you cook best? A homemade cheese meatloaf…..

5. Your favorite song? Oh my.. I have a favorite song in every type…. but if I had to choose it would be A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD by Martin Luther.

CONGRATS TO KEY WEST COLLIES!!!!!

Key West Collies were winners in one of our recent quizes!!!! YAY!!!!!!!  Way to go our collie friends!!!  Dog Dad Joe, Essex and Sherman star in a spectacular collie blog that we always love to visit!  A kindred spirit in many ways we love to read about their recent adventures, the collie history and information and seeing the love they all share.

Key West Collies are special to us for while we dont maintain a regular correspondence with them (my fault not their’s since my job keeps me always behind due to their activities and my apologies to them and everyone else for being so far behind) we love to hear from them and enjoy each blog post and email.  Dog Dad Joe and I both have loved deeply and have broken hearts over collies we shared our lives with in the past.  You all know about mine but for Dog Dad Joe it was a wonderful collie named Deacon!!!

Deacon came to change and influence his life in ways words cannot express.  Deacon was a smart, loyal, loving and fun collie who left way too soon and left Dog Dad way too soon.  As I read about Deacon I wept at the story of his passing and my heart broke for Dog Dad Joe.  I know how he feels. It comes like a thief in the night, death does, and it leaves you absolutely heart broken, shocked and stunned.  We here at the Meadow give a moment of silence to Deacon….. his beautiful picture is below…

CONGRATS DOGDAZ!!!

Dogdaz is a blog that is written by a wonderful animal loving woman who makes me laugh endlessly with some of her posts!  The recent one of Charlie Brown with the teacher going “Blah, blah, blah, .. blah, blah, blah” is a favorite of mine for that is my response to ppl who just endlessly ramble on even when they know they are interrupting something going on.. I also use it to tease the collies as they try to figure out what I am saying.  LOL

The love for nature, animals and flowers is very evident on this wonderful blog. Some of the pictures are funny, others just jaw dropping beautiful and the stories of her furry family members are always interesting and sometimes make you smile, laugh and yes, even cry.  You never know what you find there day to day, but you can be sure it will be wonderfully interesting!!!

Lulu Belle, Sofie Bear, Muffin Man, Constance Kitty, Noel, Nine, Stella who live there and those lovingly remembered like Squash, Zackery, Georgia, Cuddles, Mr. Moto, Smore, Checkers, Nikki and others are the family members you come to know and love.  This blog is a favorite and we hope you will visit them and say hello.  You will love the visit and do tell them you found them through us…. 🙂  Pass on their addie to your friends….
