Brrrr…. it was 24 degrees this morning and I lil Hallie woke dad up on his day off standing on the bed next to him licking his face….. hehehehe
He got up of course and let us out and our breakfast was prepared and we went in and feasted!!! Nom, nom, nom! Then he let us out in the early dawn light and as we played he went out and worked on the cars.
I watched him as he checked the air pressure, the fluid levels and tightened the valve covers on the Ford. He did the same with the tractors and then came and played with us for over a hour in the early cold air. We ran and ran and ran. It was fun. Then, we came in and he got on the computer and there was a announcement from Ford!
Now, dad grew up with GM in the family and he loves the collie transport unit but Ford has captured his attention lately. Lots of innovations and new ideas and he finds it very interesting! Well, Ford announced that today they were kicking off the 150th anniversary of Henry Ford’s birth year for 2013. They had a special surprise to unveil and dad couldnt wait to see it.
As he waited he went to their new 150th anniversary site at;
He loves history and this site he found very interesting!
The wild new mighty mite engines, the exciting restructuring and new cars of Lincoln and now the celebration of Henry’s 150th birth anniversary has kept dad interested. While he loves his Chevy HHR he is disappointed that they are no longer made and I catch him looking at the Ford site quite often….. I noticed he likes the Ford they bought and I wonder about it all….. of course the collie guys dont care they just want at those tires to mark their territory! Ugh… men!
Finally, they unveiled the surprise at Ford and I lay next to dad as he smiled at the surprise. It is the earliest surviving Ford automobile made by the Ford Motor Company. The third car they ever built!!! A 1903 Ford…… and they know who they sold it too in 1903, where it has been, the previous owners and in October it was put up for auction and William Clay Ford, Jr., the great-grandson of Henry Ford bought it!
The old Ford has come home to Detroit. It is now owned by the family who produced it and dad who loves his old tractors really liked this!
Betwen his play time with us dad has been reading FORD, THE MEN AND THE MACHINE and he loved it. He is also reading volume one of Nevin’s three volume set about Henry Ford. FORD, THE TIMES, THE MAN, THE COMPANY. It cover Henry up to 1915 and is in more depth than the first book and is fascinating.
COLLIES!!!! That is what you come here for and I, Lil Hallie will not let you down.
I lil Hallie think that if you have someone in your family that smokes or uses a Zippo lighter they might like this lighter. Look…. a tractor and what else but a collie! They are for sale on Amazon at at other places…. who wouldnt want a collie lighter?

A collie lighter? Hmmmm…. what dastardly deed I could do with that. We could start with the shed out back and move up to burning a hole in the fence to escape!!!! Muwahahahaahah

This is the 1903 Ford that Bill Ford bought…. an amazing story!
No collie lighter for you, Ginger. Maybe a nice, innocen, harmless stuffed bunny…..
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Dad likes the lighter but is convinced Sherman would light his tail on fire. BOL. We found the Ford site fascinating, but then Dog Dad grew up with Fords.
Essex & Sherman
Hi Chuck and the Collies. I haven’t been blogging for several weeks so I am a little out of touch and have much catching up to do! That is a wonderful Zippo lighter. Tall person used to collect Zippo lighters and has a little collection, including a camouflage one that he can never find! 🙂
Ginger! What are you thinking? It was a Zippo lighter, not a Ginger lighter.
