As the cold wind roared and the cold rain fell mixed with Ice the Old Guy covered up the Mom who just came home, kissing her forehead gently. Crowded around her bed on the floor wrapped in blankets were slumbering collies whose feet were twitching, their ears twitching and some of them softly groaning as they slumbered deeply dreaming abut their mom petting them and hugging them. The Old guy wrapped the blankets around each of the softly sighing collies who love blankets and covers and pillows. He smiled as he listened to their soft breathing and felt the warmth radiating through the room from their warm bodies. The Collies were all happy for Mom was home again!
The Collies make it no secret that the Old Guy is their favorite for playing and being loyal too, but they love their Mom who adores them and spoils them rotten. They were glum and sad with her gone but now they were happy again and celebrated by having a thunderous celebration outside with the old guy for over a hour running till they could run no more.
But, now they were surrounding the bed of their beloved Mom whom they were protecting and being near to to try to bring her comfort during her recovery. Usually loud, boisterous and very physical in their loving the collies were gentle and kind to Mom for they can sense she needs to be loved gently.
So, as the Old Guy finished tucking them all in he went to bed and his Trevor and lil Hallie went with him as the wind roared outside and the ice cold rain fell. The Old Guy covered them up and pulled the cover up over his head and said his prayers. As he finished by thanking God, Trevor and Hallie both placed their paws on his folded hands as if they were saying thank you also. As they drifted off to sleep the Old Guy could hear the two collies groan and snuggle up closer as the ice beat against the window and he smiled and softly sung;
A Mighty Fortress Is My God, A Bulwark Never Failing, A helper He amid the flood……
as he hugged the collies and smiled and fell asleep with a tear of joy sliding down his cheek…….
